Development Camp Coaching

2012 Staff

 Rick Brown

The Head Coach of the Development Camp is Three Rivers Rowing Association Executive Director, Rick Brown. Brown has coached at a diverse group of locations including UC Santa Barbara, the Marin Rowing Association and Three Rivers Rowing Association as well as beginning his rowing career and rowing for four years at Bates College. Having a Masters Degree in Sport Management, coupled with his wide range of experience, has helped Rick become an adept teacher and a great communicator. Throughout his coaching career, Rick has shown a dedication in fostering an environment for his teams that only supports winning and improving.  Three Rivers Rowing Association won club of the year in 2010, a great honor for both the club and for Coach Brown.

The 2011 Development Camp will be Rick’s third with the USRowing Junior National Team. He also brings many years of coaching nationally competitive boats collegiately and at the junior level. During the school year, Rick is also the Head Coach for the Three Rivers Rowing Association Juniors team. Rick is joined by other experienced junior and collegiate coaches as well as a staff of interns that are all able to provide valuable coaching and guidance.

Jesse Foglia

This is Jesse’s fourth year with Junior Men’s Development Camp.  Jesse began his coaching career at Fox Chapel High School in 2005.  In 2006 he became the Head Coach of the Men's team and worked for five years with varsity and novice squads. After five years working at Fox Chapel, he moved on to take a job working as Operations Manager at Three Rivers Rowing Association, as well as coaching for their junior program. Working primarily with the novice program, the TRJR team nearly doubled in size in a matter of only a few years. In an effort to continue to develop his skills as a coach, in 2010 Jesse took a job as the Men Assistant Coach at Bates College, where he currently assists in the day to day operations of the program.
Having spent several years working with junior athletes of varying abilities, Jesse understands the importance of proper development in young athletes. His experience at both the junior and collegiate level has been focused on giving athletes an understanding of the steps required to reach individual and team goals. He enjoys the opportunity to see new athletes take their first step into the National Team system, and realize the opportunities that are available through hard work.
